Close-up of a weathered cast-iron bollard at the edge of a wet quay wall. The bollard is painted blue-green; the paint is flaking off at the top and base, revealing rust-brown metal beneath. A thick, light-colored rope is wound several times around the shaft; individual fibers stick out. From there, the rope stretches to the right across the water to a second, smaller bollard in the middle ground. Behind it, the hull of a large ship with a light-colored superstructure and reddish-brown underwater paint rises in the blurred outline, its steel marked by traces of rust. Further to the right, the silhouette of another ship can be seen in the haze. The light is soft and morning, the color scheme cool in shades of blue-green and gray with warm accents on the rope. The atmosphere appears calm, heavy, and constant.
